HELP FAQ
- I click the button on the front page to launch the MapsByAir viewer, but nothing happens.
- The MapsByAir viewer launches, but the pop-up window does not display correctly.
- I cannot zoom in/out/move the map in the viewer.
- I want to use the aerial photo in the viewer in another program.
1 - Q: I click the button on the front page to launch the MapsByAir viewer, but nothing happens.
A: In order to display correctly, the viewer opens in a pop-up window. Several browsers disable the creation of pop up windows. In order to start the viewer, you should disable this feature of your browser. Most browsers that offer this feature have an option to allow pop up windows for a specific site. Consult your browser's help file for more information.
2 - Q: The MapsByAir viewer launches, but the pop-up window does not display correctly.
A: MapsByAir uses several advanced techniques to dynamically display aerial photography and cannot support all Internet browsers that are available. You may be using a browser that is not supported by MapsByAir. Consult the listing on the right hand side of this page and check to see if your browser is listed. If it is not, we suggest downloading the latest version of Internet Explorer, available here.
3 - Q: I cannot zoom in/out/move the map in the viewer.
A: There might be a problem between your computer and the MapsByAir server that is causing you not to receive image data. Press the "F5" key on your keyboard to refresh the connection. Note: this may reset the viewer to its default location (showing all of Vancouver).
4 - Q: I want to use the aerial photo in the viewer in another program.
A: Simply right click on the image in the viewer and choose "copy" from the pop up menu that appears. Then open the appropriate program and choose "paste", or hold down the "control" key ("command" key on apple computers) and press the "v" key.
If you would like to save the image on your computer in JPG format, choose "save picture as" from the pop-up menu and save the image in the appropriate folder on your computer.
